Valjevo

Dobro mi došli! Evo malo da i vaš vebmaster predstavi svoj rodni kraj, moje voljeno Valjevo. Welcome! Let your webmaster to introduce you with her hometown a bit, my beloved Valjevo.
It is a small town in western Serbia settled in a pleasant valley, surrounded by mountain range: Suvobor, Maljen, Povlen, Jablanik and Medvednik; with lots of bridges, not so impressive but crucial since this town lays on rivers. Obnica and Jablanica build the biggest city river Kolubara and there are also Ljubostinja and Gradac.
Save u Beogradu. Mali grad, ali nudi svašta!
Ko voli klasičan turistički obilazak obavezno neka svrati do gradskog muzeja i muselimovog Konaka
At the mouth of the rivers Gradac and Kolubara there is the temple "Hram Vaskrsenja" which is just after the Belgrade's Sveti Sava temple by size. It is a little city but offers many things.
Those who like classical touristic sight seeing must visit city museum and Muselimov konak
ili nek obiđe obližnje manastire: or neighboring monasteries:

where they can find memorial house of Desanka Maksimović, old house of Prota Mateja Nenadović, old school, cemetery and church where in the beautiful yard you can rest a bit in a big shade.
When you satisfy your thirst for a culture by yourself something nice in the Knez Miloš street then Rest in cafe Zipa or in some other cafe and then proceed to promenade Jadar or Pećina or you can go for a walk along Gradac river.
It's not because I live there but Gradac is a real pearl of this town. It attracts many picnickers by its unspoiled nature, clear and cold water. You can swim, enjoy in coffee in some of numerous cafes at the river bank or simply fill your lungs with a clear air. For the summer cool off there are also pools and artificial lake in Petnica and who prefers mineral water there is also spa Vrujci. For speleologists we have caves in Petnica and Degurić.
Ko voli sneg i zimske čarolije Those who like snow and winter magic
neka skokne do Divčibara. can drop by to Divčibare plateau on Maljen mountain.
Like I said we have a little bit for everyone, so those who like good drink and music I would like to direct to Tešnjar to some of numerous pubs.
Whichever you choose, no worries, you will greet the dawn with musicians. Those who like a little harder sound, with a bit of luck, they will run into performance of some good local band in Gipsy or Abrašević club.
The best sobering from a good nighttime is of course with a good breakfast so step by at Šmeker on the bank of Kolubara to try kačamak or uštipci or go to restaurant Kuća and ask for "valjevski ordever".
I za kraj pastrmka Have lunch in the bar Šofer, try some sweets or simply "žito sa šlagom" in the pastry shop Atina or tasty crêpe or fruit cup in Mon Chéri and complete all that with a mug of local ice cold beer Valjevsko pivo at Platani restaurant. For the end of a day taste local trout
for a "light" dinner in a restaurant Lovci or Tadića mlin again with a sound of the river while peacocks are flaunting around.
If you stop by at the beginning of August when the Tešnjar evenings (Tešnjarske večeri) are
that would be bingo since that is a perfect combination of everything mentioned so far, good drink, tasteful bites, music and many cultural events: concerts, theater shows, exhibitions etc.
In few words, stop by, you won't be sorry in any case. Now I'm going for a walk with my son, where else but along the Gradac river.
